| A "Cary" and a "Columbo" at Beaver Island Marine
On saturday evening, boat watchers here had a treat: the arrival of three large mega-"Cigarette style" power boats, part of the Amway fleet. The smaller one in the picture is a 70' Cary with triple 1000-hp Mercedes engines. Cary Yachts was located in Holland, Michigan, but ran into financial problems. The underside of the hatch covers is mirrored, so when its hydraulic lift is activated, anyone on the bridge can see the engines. The Griffin, a Columbo sporting immense Caterpillar diesels, is a 75' Italian-style boat made in Florida. A smaller boat in the tour, a 42' SeaRay, is tied down behind the Columbo. |
