BOGART: the Real Macaw

     This friendly bird, usually seen around the village of St. James hitching a ride on the shoulder of Eric Albin (8), first broke out of his egg on St. Patrick's Day, 1990 -- so it's fitting he would wind up summering on America's Emerald Isle. Initially, he was the pet of Eric's older brother John, now 10, but there was a minor skirmish over territory, and John won. Now Bogart spends most of his time either on his perch at Lakeside Sports, sleeping, or cruising around downtown with Eric, showing off his pithy, if limited (23 words), vocabulary and searching for the macaw of his dreams: the ever-lovely Bacall.
