| Font Lake
This loon preserve and good smallmouth/largemouth fishing area is Beaver's second largest lake in surface area, although it is generally shallow, with only a few holes reaching 8'. A pontoon boat was the only craft we saw. The "floating islands" near the south edge have acquired soil, while the bass hideouts near the west shore have not. As we watched the sun set on Sunday evening beyond the dramatic hills to the west, standing on the road to Hidden Valley, a solitary tern flew back and forth with its head bent down, hoping for a last meal. |
