| Round Lake
This shallow lake on the edge of a restricted pheasant preserve, just beyond the farm where this old car died (and other rusty farm equipment indicated a family's energy had suddenly run out), provided a welcome splashdown for the Canadian Geese this spring, but by early July the water was gone for the summer. A lone deer brunching on quack that had taken root on the former lake bottom watched us approach, stand wistfully at the vanished shore, and then quietly leave. | |
